Beyond the Powder Brings Home Another Award

In April 2026, two of Hemlock Film's movies were screened at the Queen Bess Aviation Centennial Film Festival held in Chicago, IL. Rise Above: WASP and Beyond the Powder: The Legacy of the First Women's Cross-Country Air Race highlight the stories and achievements of women in aviation throughout history, the theme of the film festival.

Beyond the Powder took home the award for Best Feature Film! An honor for our writer/director Kara White and for all involved in the making of the film. It continues to air nationally on PBS, a decade after it's initial release. It is also available on streaming platforms.
